| | Freya
played a one-off solo concert at Café Victoria, Storegade
9 in her hometown, Tønder in Southern Jutland. When owner, Trine
Beck Johansen, 1st of January this year took over the management of the
restaurent, she wanted to renew the choice on the menu card and also to add some
cultural events on the schedule. And what seemed more obvious than to invite
famous child of the town, Freya, to give the premiere concert to
mark the start of the new activities at the cafée.
Freya
was backed by her brother, Rune, and they gave a 2 x 45 minutes
sets show with a most exciting set list of cover songs, mixed by a couple of her
old songs and some brand new. Freya's first major hit, Yellow
Ladybird, is now back on the set list as a request from the audience.
The song was also much requested (but never played) during the Sparkler
concerts! Freya
also gave two new and unreleased songs, Love Me Today and Cherry.
The first song is a pure Freya-original in the style that we know
from the two solo-albums. With the slightly melancholic lyrics about lost love
that we know and love from Freya. A beautiful song, which I look
foreward to listening to in a well produced studio recording.
Journalist
from local paper, Erik Pedersen from Ugeavisen Tønder,
was present, and he made a couple of live-shots at Café Victoria,
which can now be presented at this site. Many thanks to Erik Petersen
for sending the series. | |
