One evening in 2007 I saw a television feature on Danish Rock music in which Steffen Brandt and Julie Maria appeared. The two of them had performed together, playing each others songs. Being a major fan of Steffen Brandt I concider it to be a great appreciation to have worked with him, so I bought Julie Maria's album, Beautiful Minor (2004) (at which Steffen Brandt is duetting with Julie Maria). I decided one day to experience her live at stage.
Coincidently I met Julie Maria after a Sara Grabow concert in Huset and I did some quick portraits of her (see here). We agreed to do a live photo series next time Julie played in Copenhagen.
Earlier this February I met Julie Maria one more time (at a Louise Hart concert in Huset as well, see here), and we had a talk with her contact at Offbeat in order to get an appointment with Vega to make a live photo series during Julie Maria's concert.
After having seen Julie Maria live I've become an even bigger fan! Julie performs with a great passion and she's so much present at stage that you tends to forget how beautiful she looks!
Julie and her band gave a variated set of songs from her second album and added five brand new and unrecorded songs from the coming album (no. 1, 4, 10, 11 and 14). Julie Maria's lyrics and music is very feminine with reflections from the female universe.
After the concert I've been listening several times to Julie Maria's album, and I've found plenty of new layers in it, which you didn't hear during the first times. Julie Maria is truely an unique and talented new star at the music sky!
