Kashmir
Store Vega, Copenhagen
19. May 2004

I met Kasper Eistrup at Maya Albana's Release Party two months earlier to this concert. All Kashmir's band members were present and Henrik and Asger played in Maya's backing band. I presented myself to Kasper, gave him my card and told him that I intended to take some live photos of Kashmir and asked him for his approvement. He agreed without even knowing if I was a professional.
Kasper Eistrup and rest of the band were totally relazed and down-to-earth, never showing any propensity of rock-star attitudes. I was impressed by Kasper's almost spititul force of personality, of which I got a clear impression during the brief conversation.

This concert at Vega was in fact my first experience with Kashmir as a live band. I wonder how I could possible have ignored this fabulous band for so many years! I've only bought their most recent records within the last weeks, and what a material!! In fact it was only after listening to the live version of The Aftermath recorded at the Roskildefestival, that I became aware of the quality of Kashmir's music.

The evening's show was slightly different from the show played at the extra concert the evening before. They played a very variated set of songs, all performed by the intensity being a trademark of Kashmir. My favorites were Graceland and The Aftermath, maybe because that I was most familiar with those two songs beforehand. I have something to get absorbed into in the future ...

The opening intro and half of the first song on the set was played by the band standing behind a white curtain, unseen by the audience, with Kasper performing a galanty show at the curtain being enlighened from behind. I'm quite convinced that it's not my last Kashmir show to enjoy.
Though I was only allowed to photograph from up front during the three opening songs, I somehow managed to take approxemately 700 photos! Some of them can be viewed below.
