Maya Albana
Rust, Copenhagen
25. November 2004

Again I had the opportunity to make a live-at-stage series of this beautiful and charismatic artist. I can't recall any female artist on the Danish Rock Scene (except for Freya and Pernille Rosendahl) with a similar beauty combined with that big talent.
Maya Albana has a unique ability for writing angry, powerfull punk-like songs and performing them in a very sweet and feminine way! She is so visual on stage, being a dream for a photographer.
We got a surprisingly brief set of songs this night. She did all the songs from the God Bless Education album, except for Struck With Me, which was actually on the set list, but omitted for some unknown reason. In fact there were two slightly different set lists, but both of them having Struck With Me as the opening song. We got one new unrecorded song, Hell Raising and two cover-songs as an encore. Also this time Maya gave the naughty and maybe therefore unreleased Pig.
What I really miss is to hear live versions of songs from one of the best Danish albums relased within the last ten years: Maya Albana's first album. Why is Common Breed, Tripping On the Rainbows or Spell Out The Truth not included on the set list? This very album is the most overseen release ever in Denmark. Buy it if you are lucky to find it somewhere.

Unfortunately there was not much light in Rust that evening, so I had to erase a lot of god, but out-of-focused pics. Below you can view what was left.
