Through my son-in-law I became aware of this gifted artist a few days before her concert at Amager Bio. I didn't knew her before that, but after having listened to only one song, Stay Beautiful, on iTunes it was obvious to me that here we faced an extraordinary talent.

As I've stated a couple of times at this site, I'm not really into the Jazz Universe. But Nanne Emelie's soft and beaituful sound could easily make me give it a try to open to the Jazz World.

This special night at Amager Bio she and her wonderful musicians gave a memorable performance with live versions of 9 of the songs from Nanne Emelie's debut album, Once Upon A Town, released in May this year.

We also got two breathtaken versions of Billie Holiday's songs (No. 7 and 11). Add to that four previoursly unrecorded songs (No. 5, 9, 12 and 13).

For me the highlights of the evening was the first Billie Holiday song, God Bless the Child, with some excellent bass playing by Andreas Hatholt, and Nanne Emelie's own writing, In Favor Of Love.

To me, Nanne Emelie has a potential to be an internationally reputabled star.
